Archdiocesan Band Program
The Archdiocesan Band Program is divided into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Classes meet in once a week for sectional rehearsals and once a week for full band rehearsals.
Beginner Band starts in 4th grade. Students who wish to be in band must register with the Archdiocese and provide their own instruments. Registration forms including information about tuition and scheduling for band is given out at the beginning of each school year.
Once a student has successfully completed a year of band, he/she moves up to Intermediate Band and then to Advanced.
All students perform in a concert at the end of the year, and there are other events and performances for certain levels of band that vary from year to year.

The "Bayou Boogie" Newspaper
The staff of Visitation of Our Lady's school newspaper, the "Bayou Boogie," is composed of Middle School students. Items include classroom updates, articles of interest pertaining to school events and recognition of outstanding achievements in sports as well as academics. Articles include newsworthy topics and information relating to the season during which a particular issue is published. Outstanding creative writing and poetry are published from all grades throughout the school. The newspaper provides an avenue for students who are interested in writing and journalism.
Student Council
The Visitation of Our Lady Middle School Student Council is a service organization. Some of our responsibilities are: to collect can goods from the student body and bring them over to church for the parish food bank, to act as hosts/hostees for guests visiting our school, and to make decorations for the school's Christmas tree in City Park's Celebration in the Oaks.
The students elected to the Student Council represent the school both on campus and off campus; therefore, the students must be responsible, cooperating role models. During the installation of the council, the members take an oath to promote school spirit and good citizenship. The members light a candle during the installation to show that they represent the "Light of Christ" in our school.
Some Student Council projects are to help primary teachers during holiday celebrations, to escort grandparents to their grandchildren on Grandparents' Day, and to sponsor a Spirit Week for the middle school student body.
